Going for a walk is great, but nurturing Nature is more nuanced than that. It relates to supporting our ecology on multiple levels.
Outsides Living things (plants, animals…) and environments (geology, light, water ,air, climate)
Insides Our body’s dynamic microbiomes, immunity, hormones and sensory systems.
Besides On our planet we coexist in a context of resonant systems and rhythms (e.g. seasons)
Unfortunately modern life doesn’t make it easy. In the last 200 years our connection with nature has declined by 60%, driven by urbanization, loss of wildlife, and a decline in cultural practices. Prof Miles Richardson, University of Derby 2025
The good news is understanding how we relate with nature can help us make it easier to reconnect where ever we are and even on a busy day.
